OJT: ELEVENTH DAY

Our 11th day as trainees was a tiring day. We were assigned by Sir Eric to the MTC at quirino to have a discussion with Sir Kris regarding the existing database of the person profile inventory. Sir Eric gave us an assignment to finish until Friday and it is to make an ER diagram and design using mockups for the web based application that we will be doing. Around 11 am, we went to the MTC and we had our discussion with Sir Kris until 12 noon. After our discussion, we had our lunch time and decided to go back at 1pm. Hazel Ann and I, ate right foods in order for us to be active in our works. At exactly 1pm, we’ve familiarized the database system and the mockups so that we can start doing our assigned task. At 3pm we started doing the ER diagram and started doing the design for the application. We ended up our day without finishing the entire task but we’re still happy that we’ve almost on the half of it. GOD:BLESS. .

OJT: NINTH DAY

Sadly, our 9th day as trainees was also the last day for our co-trainees from Mountain View College. In the morning, we’ve continued editing the Greppoo site and in the afternoon we had our reporting from 1pm to 5pm. We’ve listened to the reports of our co-trainees regarding their “before and after” at Greppoo. We had so much fun during the reporting time; we shared laughter’s with each other. Though we’ve known each other for a short span of time, the memories that we had will be treasured forever. GOD BLESS. .

OJT: EIGHT DAY

In our 8th day as student trainees, we are assigned to write an article and edit the site if greppoo incorporated. We wrote articles about the services and training topics offered by Greppoo incorporated. Sir Eric commanded us not to copy and paste from other articles or other sites but to rephrase its thoughts. We search in the internet and study the services offered by greppoo, after doing it and studying it we started writing our own article. We almost spend the whole morning writing the article and keep on revising our own thoughts. At the afternoon, Sir Eric checked the article we wrote and fortunately he approved it. We then upload the article we wrote to the Greppoo site (www.greppoo.com). We really felt tired but happy in our 8th day, it’s like we’re having a class in one of our subject during our 2nd semester being a 3rd year college student.

We’re hoping for the succeeding days to be fine and fun. GOD BLESS. .

OJT: THIRD DAY

Our third day as trainees at Greppo Inc .was pretty not a busy day for us. Sir Eric instructed one of our co-trainee named Roselle to introduced to us the free and open source content management system (CMS) for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets the JOOMLA. Roselle thoughts us the basic functions of joomla as serve as a preparation for the incoming task that sir would give to us. We spend the whole day exploring the open source CMS, Joomla. As we observed, Joomla is written in PHP and stores data in a MySQL database. It is not so hard to use joomla since it uses object – oriented programming techniques. Since we’re just on our third day as trainees, Sir Eric wants us to experience how to use Joomla without hard coding but then Sir Eric added that later we will have to use it with the application of hard coding. We had fun in exploring and in using Joomla, but we’re pretty much sure that we will be having more Fun if we will apply hard coding. We are hoping that tomorrow will be another great day for us as trainees. .:) GOD BLESS. .

OJT: SECOND DAY

Our second day as a student trainee at Greppo Incorporated was FUN.  Sir Eric wants to test how good we are in our communication skills, so he gave us a task and it is all about reporting. Other trainees were instructed by Sir Eric to present the output of their respective assigned projects and we were assigned to report regarding the policies of the company since we don‘t have yet the assigned project to build or to report.

Reporting the policies of the company.
One of the trainees reporting his assigned task.

After the reporting, Sir Eric criticized the works of everybody; he gave his own idea and of course he gave us his observation regarding the way we presented in front. As we observed, Sir Eric really wants the trainees to explain not only the interface of the finished project but also the codes behind it.

In my own perception, Sir Eric wants us to understand that in an IT industry; programming is not the only thing that matters; having a good communication skill is still an important key to succeed in an IT world. I agreed on the idea of Sir Eric that we will have our reporting twice a week; it is because it would help and train us to enhance our capacity to speak in front, to defend our work and it could give us more confidence which could help us in the near future.  Our second day was full of excitement and of FUN. Now, what we will be doing is to wait what project would Sir Eric wants us to develop. We are hoping that tomorrow will be another great day for us as trainees. .:) GOD BLESS. .

OJT: FIRST DAY

DAY 1 (May 12, 2011)

After a long time of waiting and searching, finally we (I, Hazel Mae and Hazel Ann) have found a company named Greppoo Incorporated, where we can have our On-the-Job Training (OJT) program. Me with my colleagues Hazel Mae and Hazel Ann has been introduced to Sir Eric Lozaita , the cooperation manager of the Greppoo inc..  Sir Eric told us that we’re assigned to different works regarding IT works.
We were very excited at the same time nervous on our very first day. The office is located along Matina crossing so it’s quite far from my residence (Sasa) and Hazel Ann's residence so for this reason we need to wake up early so that we will not be late. Together with my colleagues, we’ve met different IT and CS trainees from the different places and campuses, but most of them came from MVP or Mountain View College.
Our first day was probably our orientation day. Sir Eric introduced us to the whole staff and sent us to the other offices which were located at Magallanes and Quirino. After introducing us to the staff and trainees, he now then discussed the policies and rules of the company as well as the OJT Rules.Sir told us that the programming language that they commonly used is java. Sir Eric, allow us to observed what other Trainees was doing. There were three division of groups from the trainees, one of the groups was doing an accounting system using CLI java and the other was doing a marketplace website using php mysql. After the observation , sir eric together with one of the trainees named roselle discussed the works of a project leader, project analyst and project developer. .The discussion ended up so well, it's like were having a lecture on our System Analsis and Design course.Together with my colleagues Hazel mae and Hazel ann, we decided as a team whom among us be the leader, analyst and developer. Our desicion ended up this way Hazel Ann will be our project leader, I will be the project analyst and Hazel mae will be the project developer.

Trainees from other schools.

Our First day as a student trainee in Greppoo Incorporated was so great. We started at 8:00 am and ended up to 5:00 pm with smile in our face. We are hoping that tomorrow will be another great day for us as  trainees. .:) GOD BLESS. .
